JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Guest Services Representative – Seasonal
Classification: Part-Time, Hourly (12–28 hrs/week), Non-Exempt
Schedule: Flexible schedule, must include weekends and holidays
Supervision: Guest Services & Retail Manager
Position Summary:
The Guest Services Representative is responsible for providing excellent customer service to all visitors at the California Wolf Center Visitor Center and Nature Store. This role combines retail sales, visitor engagement, and administrative support for tours and programs. Ideal candidates are friendly, organized, and comfortable working independently in a mission-driven, nature focused environment.
Key Responsibilities: Guest Services & Retail Operations
• Greet all visitors as they enter the Visitor Center & Nature Store.
• Answer questions about the store, merchandise, and the California Wolf Center mission.
• Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system, handle sales transactions, daily cashouts, and reconciliation.
• Assist with inventory management, restocking, and creating merchandise displays.
• Maintain cleanliness of public areas including the interior and exterior of the store, education displays, restrooms, and event spaces.
• Respond to phone inquiries regarding merchandise, tours, and general visitor questions
Tour Booking & Program Support
• Book and confirm tour reservations via in person, phone, and online platforms.
• Communicate with education and guest services teams regarding tour logistics.
• Assist as needed with public programs and seasonal events
Other Duties As Assigned
Qualifications
Required:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and time management skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Work in cooperative manner with others and contribute to a successful team effort.
• Proficiency with Google Suite and general computer skills.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays; flexible hours.
• Ability to lift 25-40 lbs. while climbing up and downstairs, stand/walk for extended periods, kneel, reach, and bend.
Preferred:
• Experience in retail sales and customer service.
• Experience with POS systems and Tour Booking platforms (e.g., Clover, FareHarbor).
• Familiarity with wildlife conservation, wolf recovery, and environmental education.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.
Work Environment:
Work is typically performed in a retail/office environment with occasional outdoor activities. Moderate physical activity is required, including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting, and carrying merchandise up to 40 lbs. going up and down stairs. Frequent guest interaction and handling of merchandise and booking/sales software is required.
